  • St Gabriel's Church, Cwmbran
  • Orchestra: Welsh Sinfonia
In the year of the 250th anniversary of his death, the choir performed three of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's works - Regina Coeli (K276), Laudate Dominum (K339) and Ave Verum Corpus (K618).

The choir also performed
Jesu, Meine Freude written by Johann Sebastian Bach with it's first performance on 18th July 1723, and rounded off the concert with Joseph Haydn's Missa in Tempore Belli (Mass in Time of War). Also known as the 'Drum Mass' because of the sinister timpani in the 'Agnus', this was Haydn's seventh mass.

  • Holy Trinity, Pontnewydd, Cwmbran
Our Christmas concert this year began with Johann Sebastian Bach's Wachet Auf, Ruft Uns Die Stimme. There are few works amongst Bach's entire output that express such sensuous joy as shines from this cantata first performed on 25th November 1731.

The choir then performed a work by another German composer -
Willkommen, Süßer Bräutigam by Vincent Lübeck.

Finally, no Christmas concert would be complete without music from George Friderik Handel's
Messiah. This work was first performed in Dublin on 13th April 1742, although it underwent numerous revisions by the composer before his death in 1759.
